Last year I tried to very diligently make sure the majority of the fics I put on my posting had not been listed already. This year, I’ve been a bit busy with work so I haven’t even looked through the majority of your great recommendations. I’ve saved the links to the posts for future enjoyment when RL is a little bit slower.

I can only hope that I haven’t listed ALL repeats! (And for that reason I picked mostly non-SS/HG fics, because I figure a large portion of you all already had those covered!)

I hope you find at least a few new fics to enjoy on here!



1. Fandom: Harry Potter, Charlie/Hermione
Title: Leap of Faith

Summary: After Ginny started at Hogwarts, Molly spends her child-free days writing Mills & Boon type smut, with scantily dressed male models on the covers. Charlie figures out that Molly is writing stories where she pairs up Hermione with each of her boys. This story starts as letters passing between Hermione and Charlie but develops into an absorbing romance between the pair.
Why I fangirl this: Every time I even think about this story I'm drawn in to several hours of reading and being transported into an absolutely wonderful tale. Not only are Hermione and Charlie so well developed in Leap of Faith, but I adore the connection with Viktor (and his wife), as well as both sets of parents. Really – with a start of Molly writing smut, do you need much more convincing?

2. Fandom: Harry Potter, Bill/Hermione

Why I fangirl this: I was captivated on first reading of this fic. Then I lost the link for a while and kept thinking of it. When I stumbled across it again, I quickly bookmarked it, read it again and then read everything else she has written. The tale is heartbreaking and heartwarming, with a bit of friendship and humor along the way. While you’re on her page, also read Words, a precious Percy/Hermione.

3. Fandom: Harry Potter, technically Viktor/Hermione, but really mostly about Viktor and the Krum men

Summary: Many of his lessons about how to grow into a man happened in that chair, but one of the ones he never forgot was the night he asked about his father’s hands.
Why I fangirl this: This is one of the few times where my RL unexpectedly shows up in fic and I end up crying hysterically at work and cannot explain myself to my baffled co-workers. This fic is all about strong, big hands. In my mother’s family all the men have hands just like those bethalaina describes. This short ficlet made me just think of all the wonderful men in that side of the family. It’s really a beautiful and touching story.

Why I fangirl this: I’m totally breaking the rules by recommending not one, but two, fics written for me. But they’re so good and I want everyone else to read them too! This one is from my good friend, missle_envy, who dragged me into this fandom thing in the first place. This was part of my 30th birthday present. What’s better than some nice SS/HG fic? (oh yeah, that’s the sequel, which was promised to me a year and a half ago…) ;) Read everything else by her while you’re over on her site, her grand epic fic doesn’t have any SS/HG but is so packed full of adventure and other pairings, you won’t miss it.

Why I fangirl this: It’s such a cute powerhouse of a one-shot. Bill is upset when he finds out that Hermione doesn’t think he’s the cool Weasley. But what will Charlie think when he finds out that she thinks HE is?

Why I fangirl this: This is a Draco/Hermione, but for me it’s really all about Narcissa. In this snapshot, she’s a fiercely loyal and loving mother – or at least, that’s how I read it.

Why I fangirl this: I’m quite sure this has already been on the tour. But I’m going to list it again, just in case. Sage is exactly how I would like to imagine Severus, Hermione & Ron’s lives after the EWE fiasco. Which isn’t to say there aren’t heartbreaking moments along the journey, but the characters all retain their personalities, their essences from the books, so wonderfully in this story. And lady_rhian’s Rose is a woman I would love to get to know.

9. Fandom: Harry Potter, Draco/Hermione

Why I fangirl this: What an absorbing fic! The trio and Ginny are exactly as I had imagined them before book 7. I love the imagery in the fic but particularly I find impressive her descriptions of Draco’s emotions. floorcoaster captures a Draco that’s believable and not entirely likable, but yet still lovable. And that to me IS Draco. Oh and did I mention, this Draco likes to cook? *drools* He just whips up a crown roast out of his freezer. *goggles* And can I just say I love the habit of rearranging books? Who doesn’t fangirl this?

10. Fandom: Harry Potter, Harry/Hermione

Why I fangirl this: Ok, I’m not usually a fan of stories where one of the trio run off and leave the others behind. But when it’s this well done, I’m willing to look beyond that plot. This is a quick moving mystery fic, with romance thrown in too!

Why I fangirl this: Whenever I’m in the mood for some tear-jerking angst with a good ending, I turn to this fic. Hermione and Charlie’s love for each other just comes leaping off the page. It’s so heartfelt and well crafted – full of little details that are just perfect pictures of what you would imagine for a grown-up Charlie and Hermione. Warning: I simply can’t read this one without crying. And I’m not a crier.

12. Fandom: Harry Potter, Fred/Hermione

Why I fangirl this: Believe it or not when I sat down to do this tour post, I put down “the one where…” in the link slot and then went to go look up the actual titles and authors. I had no idea atruwriter would grab, not just two slots on my list, but two in a row. But they’re well deserved ones. This one is a WIP, but one that I think about too often! I love the idea of a Fred/George/Hermione trio because it’s unexpected, and yet it does work.

Why I fangirl this: There’s very little written in the Bend it like Beckham fandom (I’m not surprised by that I guess), but it’s just one of those movies I watch and then want more… so I went looking for more. This is what I found!



I’m trying to start reading more in non-Potter fandoms… so maybe if we do this next year, you’ll all get more of a mixed bag from me!
